Der in der Schweiz aufgewachsene Musiker Simon Menin erhielt seinen ersten Unterricht als Cornettist in der Jugendmusik Olten. Als Cornettist war er Mitglied verschiedener Brass Bands im In- und Ausland. Er spielte mit Bands wie Brass Band Berner Oberland, Point of Ayr Colliery Band, Brighouse & Rastrick, Black Dyke und der Williams Fairey Band. Von 1998 bis 2003 studierte er Trompete/Cornet und Musikpädagogik am Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, England, und schloss sein Hochschulstudium mit der Auszeichnung "credit in performance" und dem PPRNCM Solistendiplom ab.
Er ist Absolvent der Orchesterakademien des Pacific Music Festivals in Sapporo (Japan) und des National Orchestral Institutes in Maryland (USA).

Simon Menin erhielt diverse Stipendien und Preise. Darunter auch den Förderpreis der Rentsch-Stiftung für Kulturelle Impulse (Schweiz) und den Konzertpreis der "RNCM Concerto Competition" in Manchester (England).

Nebst seiner aktuellen Tätigkeit als Solotrompeter beim Irish Chamber Orchestra in Limerick (Irland) und im Projekt Spira Mirabilis (Italien) ist er regelmässig als Gast und Aushilfe bei diversen Orchestern im In- und Ausland tätig. Von 2004-2007 lebte Simon Menin in Chicago (USA), wo er als Stellvertretender Solotrompeter beim Illinois Symphony Orchestra arbeitete. Er ist ein leidenschaftlicher Kammermusiker und ist Gründungsmitglied der "International Chamber Artists of Chicago". Zu seinen inspirierendsten Erfahrungen zählen die Projekte mit Musikern wie Bernard Haitink, Sir Simon Rattle, Jörg Widmann und Lorenzo Coppola.

Sein musikalisches Wirken erstreckt sich auch in andere Genres wie Pop & Rock, Big Band, Filmmusik und Musiktheater. Simon Menin spielte auf Albumproduktionen und Konzerttourneen von Künstlern wie Sinead O'Connor, Andrea Bocelli, Foreigner, Julie Feeney, und spielte in Musicals wie Annie, Camelot, South Pacific, Blood Brothers, und Beauty and the Beast in London, Liverpool, Chicago, Dublin und Zürich.

Durch das Projekt Spira Mirabilis entdeckte Simon Menin die historische Aufführungspraxis für sich, so widmet er sich wann immer möglich dem Spiel und Studium der Naturtrompete.

Er trat mehrmals als Solist mit dem Irish Chamber Orchestra (Irland), dem Argovia Philharmonic (Schweiz) und dem Orchestra of St. Cecilia (Irland) vor das Konzertpublikum. Ausserdem spielte er Solorezitale an Musikfestivals wie der Cantiere Internationale d'Arte di Montepulciano (Italien) und dem Walled City Music Festival in Londonderry (Nordirland).

Simon Menin unterrichtet mit viel Leidenschaft und Einfühlungsvermögen. Als Lehrer, Gastdozent und Berater war er an zahlreichen Internationalen Unterrichtsprojekten beteiligt und lebte von 2003-2004 in Abu Dhabi (Vereinigte Arabische Emirate), wo er als Spezialist für Blechblasinstrumente den Instrumentalunterricht an der Britischen Schule "Al Khubairat" mithalf aufzubauen.
Er leitete Workshops zum Thema Lampenfieber an der University of Ulster (Nordirland) und am Konservatorium Kosice (Slowakei), unterrichtete auf Einladung der Penn State University (USA) als Gastdozent Meisterkurse in Solo Performance, und unterrichtet derzeit Schüler im In- und Ausland.

Simon Menin grew up in Switzerland and received his first lessons on cornet as a member of his local youth wind band (Jugendmusik Olten). As a cornet player he was a member of various brass bands. He played with bands such as Brass Band Berner Oberland, Point of Ayr Colliery Band, Brighouse & Rastrick, Black Dyke and The Williams Fairey Band. From 1998-2003 he studied trumpet/cornet and music pedagogy at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, England, and graduated "with credit in performance" and the "PPRNCM Professional Performance" Soloist diploma.

He is a graduate of the orchestra academies of the Pacific Music Festival in Sapporo (Japan) and the National Orchestral Institute in Maryland (USA).
​
Simon Menin won several scholarships and prizes. Including the prize of the Rentsch-Foundation for Cultural Impulses (Switzerland) and the concerto award of the RNCM Concerto Competition in Manchester (England).
​
In addition to his current work as principal trumpet with the Irish Chamber Orchestra in Limerick (Ireland) and with the project Spira Mirabilis (Italy), he regularly performs as guest principal and substitute musician with various other orchestras. From 2004-2007, Simon Menin lived in Chicago, USA, where he worked as co-principal trumpet with the Illinois Symphony Orchestra. He is a passionate chamber musician and is a founding member of the International Chamber Artists of Chicago. His most inspiring musical experiences include projects with outstanding musicians such as Bernard Haitink, Sir Simon Rattle, Jörg Widmann and Lorenzo Coppola.

His musical work also extends to other genres such as pop & rock, big band, soundtracks and musical theatre. Simon Menin has appeared on albums and concert tours of artists such as Sinead O'Connor, Andrea Bocelli, Foreigner, Julie Feeney, and has performed in musical theatre productions such as Annie, Camelot, South Pacific, Beauty and the Beast and Blood Brothers in London, Liverpool, Chicago, Dublin and Zurich.

Through the project Spira Mirabilis, Simon Menin discovered the historical performance practice and has been dedicating a lot of his time to playing and studying the natural trumpet.
​
He appeared several times as a soloist with the Irish Chamber Orchestra (Ireland), the Argovia Philharmonic (Switzerland) and the Orchestra of St. Cecilia (Ireland). He has played solo recitals at music festivals such as the Cantiere Internationale d'Arte di Montepulciano (Italy) and the Walled City Music Festival in Derry/Londonderry (Northern Ireland).

Simon Menin teaches with a lot of passion and empathy. As a teacher, guest lecturer and consultant he was involved in numerous international educational projects and lived in Abu Dhabi (UAE) from 2003-2004, where he helped to design the instrumental tuition scheme of the British School "Al Khubairat".

He led workshops about Performance Anxiety at the University of Ulster (Northern Ireland) and the Music Conservatory of Kosice (Slovakia), was invited to teach masterclasses in solo performance at Penn State University (USA), and currently teaches workshops and lessons in Switzerland and abroad.
